How to Lubricate your Garage Door

Most doors squeak when they need to be lubricated. We recommend lubricating the garage door every 6 months. This will keep it working smoothly and make sure all moving parts are not metal on metal contact and this will ensure that parts do not get worn out. Then we recommend having a professional come out and do the harder stuff and also make sure nothing is worn out and needs to be replaced. 

Choose the Right Lubrication

The best lubricant is the ones that are specifically for garage doors. This spray is formulated specifically for garage doors. The cheaper sprays come out in color and also spray out so much you can hit the hinge 10ft away. Also they drip a lot and can be huge safety hazard if they drip down on a epoxy floor and then someone can slip and fall.  Do not use a WD40. This is not a lubricant. WD40 has a cleaning agent that will break down grease and remove the grease from places that has grease packed around the bearing.

Start With The Bottom Fixture (Left Side)
#1 Hinge (Left Side)
#2 Hinge (Left Side)
#3 Hinge (Left Side)
Top Fixture (Left Side)
End Bearing Plate (Left Side)
Spray The Garage Door Torsion Spring (Left Side) and Lubricate Entire Spring.  Also spray between the 2 springs and lubricate the bearing between the two springs. 
Spray between the 2 springs and lubricate the bearing between the two springs. 
Spray The Garage Door Torsion Spring (Right Side) Lubricate Entire Spring.
Center Hinge. Lubricate all 9 of them.  
End Bearing Plate (Right Side)
